Sheikh Russel KC Ltd of Bangladesh has been eliminated from the preliminary round (West) of the AFC Cup losing to FC Khayr of Tajikistan by 0-1 goal in a play-off match on Tuesday at the Republican Central Stadium in Dushanbe, the capital of Tajikistan.
Defender Hasan Rustamov, who participated in the 2013 and 2014 AFC Cups with his former club FC Ravshan, scored the match-winning goal for the Tajikistan runners-up FC Khayr in the 22nd minute of the match, according to AFC website.
FC Khayar will face Salam Zgharata of Lebanon in the AFC Cup play-off match on February 17 at Sports City Stadium of Beirut, winners of which will advance to Group A.
Sheikh Russel KC had to play their day's AFC Cup match without three key national players -- Emily, Zahid and Hemanta -- for their engagement in the Bangabandhu Gold Cup, against two national players-studded FC Khayr.
