Robber lynched by mob in Kapasia

A mob has lynched one person in Gazipur's Kapasia,  after chasing him down following robberies in three houses in the locality.
'Shamim', 38, whose first name could only be immediately known, is the son of Gias Uddin of Pacha Hazar area of Mymensingh's Pagla. He was wanted in 18 cases with Kapasia, Kaliganj and Pagla police over various criminal offences including robbery, Kapasia Police Station OC Ahsan Ullah said.
He added the incident took place in Namila area of Shinghashri Union around daybreak on Thursday. Police recovered the body in the morning after learning of the lynching.
Reserved female councillor of the union, Hosne Ara Begum, said a 15-member gang of robbers had raided the residences of Badal, Makbul and Jamal Uddin from 2:30am on Thursday till dawn.
"The armed robbers first raided Badal's house, physically assaulted him and his wife and made off with gold ornaments.
"They then raided Makbul's house and took off with Tk 10,000 and gold jewellery. Jamal's residence was the last to be attacked. The robbers took away Tk 8,000 and gold ornaments from there."
She said one of Jamal's legs was fractured in the beating by the robbers during the attack.
Begum said Jamal raised alarm when the robbers were fleeing and his neighbours gave them a chased. "One of them was caught near Amri canal and was beaten to death." Ullah added they found a flashlight and a sharp weapon at the spot of the lynching. The body has been sent to Gazipur's Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
