Three killed in separate incidents in Chittagong

Three people including a housewife were killed in separate incidents in the city and district on Sunday night and Monday.
The deceased were identified as housewife Joya Paul, 35, businessman Ziaur Rahman, 32 and banker Asif Hossain Hirok, 28.
City's Khulshi police sources said a private banker Asif Hossain committed suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan at his residence in the city's Lalkhan Bazar area around 9am today. Police could not ascertain the reason behind the suicide.
Source added that an official of The International Finance Investment and Commerce (IFIC) Bank Ltd  committed suicide in Lalkhan Bazar residence  under Khulshi Thana of the district yesterday morning. .The deceased was identified as M Hirak, 28, a contractual official of IFIC Bank and son of late Nurul Azam, hailed from Baghbona Mosque area of Khulsi in city. Sources said Hirak committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling inside his room.On information, police recovered the body and sent it to the Chittagong Medical College Hospital for an autopsy.Sub-Inspector Kawsar Alam Buiyan confirmed the matter to this correspondent.
Besides, unidentified miscreants shot businessman Ziaur Rahman to death at Bazalia area under Satkania upazila of the district around 12.30am on Sunday night while the victim was returning home from his shop.
Satkania police sources said police recovered the body and sent it to the morgue for autopsy.
Meanwhile, housewife Joya Paul who sustained burn injuries died at Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) around 7am today.
But Joya's parents alleged that her husband Sonjoy Paul torched her by pouring kerosene on her body at their residence in Foteyabad area under Hathazari upazila of the district following a long standing family feud on Sunday night.
Police out post sources at CMCH said critically injured Joya was rushed to the burn unit of the hospital around 2.30am on Sunday while she succumbed to her injuries around 7am today.
Separate cases were filed in this connection.
