Three policemen beat and wounded a youth in the head with bricks when he protested against their misbehaviour with a shopkeeper in Sirajganj.
The incident took place at the Trade Fair in the town's Shaheed Shamsuddin Stadium on Tuesday night, said Additional SP Ziaul Hasan Talukder. The injured youth, 'Heera', is currently under treatment at Sirajganj Sadar Hospital.
The 22-year old told bdnews24.com: "The three policemen were ill-treating a shopkeeper at the fair. As I protested, they beat me and hit me in the head with bricks."
The names of the three constables have been given out as 'Sumon', 'Shamim' and 'Ariful'.
ASP Talukder said they were withdrawn and sent to Rajshahi range after a preliminary probe found the accusations to be true.
"They were members of some additional force we brought in from the Rajshahi range for Trade Fair duty. We've recommended action against them for their misconduct," he told bdnews24.com.
