Shipping Minister Shajahan Khan expressed the hope that there will be no sufferings for home-bound passengers on river routes as the government is alert to ensure smooth movement of passengers on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr. He said this on Friday while speaking as the chief guest at a discussion on ‘Returning Home Safely: Role of Administration’ at the auditorium of the Jatiya Press Club (JPC) here.
Lawmaker Syed Abu Hossain Babla presided over the function while State Minister for Home Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, chairman of Social Environment and Human Rights Implementing Agency Lion HM Ibrahim and secretary general Sujon Dey also spoke.
Shajahan called upon the home-bound passengers not to board vessels as additional passengers and on top of the vessels to avert accident. He also pleaded to the launch owners to leave respective terminals before crossing the level of load of their vessels.
There will be no problem of ferry service this year as 14
ferries have so far been built during the last five years, he
said adding that these ferries are equipped with all sorts of
facilities for passengers.
