Khasru, one of the main actors of Bangladesh’s First Liberation War based movie, ‘Ora 11 Jon’, directed by Chashi Nazrul Islam. However, Khasru’s biggest identity is that he is a freedom-fighter. Not that he has acted in many movies. But he acted as long as he liked.
Apart from ‘Ora 11 Jon’, Khasru’s notable movies are ‘Songram’, ‘Nokol Manush’, ‘Badshah’, ‘Fande Poriya Boga Kande’, ‘Rajar Holo Saja’, etc.
This brave freedom-fighter was the commander of the guerrilla forces in Dhaka region during the great liberation war in 1971.
On behalf of Chhatra Sangam Parishad, according to the design given, Khasru bought the flag cloth in the dark of night, called a tailor and stitched it and handed it over. The flag was hoisted on March 2 at Dhaka University and on March 3 at Paltan Maidan. He first fired a rifle into the sky and announced that this nation is ready to fight when the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s orders.
He is one of the few members of Chhatra Sangram Parishad who went to the house number 32 of Dhanmondi and handed over the flag to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. When Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman returned from the Pakistani jail on January 10, Khasru was accompanied by Bangabandhu’s motorcade from the airport. After surrendering his arms, this freedom-fighter got involved in the cultural arena. He is the hero of this country’s first liberation war based movie, ‘Ora 11 Jon’. The independent country’s first full colour movie titled ‘Badshah’, in which Khasru played the dual role of the hero. After August 15, 1975, the worst demonic incident in history, he became a kind of public protest.
Kamrul Anam Khan Khasru was awarded the Lifetime Achievement honour at the National Film Awards giving ceremony in 2022. However, he could not accept this honor with his own hands.
Bangladesh’s celebrated film couple, Omar Sani and Moushumi expressed their love for such a great freedom-fighter and film actor.
Both Omar Sani and Moushumi told this correspondent in this regard, “Khasru Bhai is the pride of our film. He directly participated in the great liberation war to liberate this country. All his life he is on the path of truth and justice. We are truly delighted and proud to honor this great man for life. We pay tribute to him. We have our sincere gratitude to the honorable Prime Minister. Thanks to those who were on the jury board. Allah keeps Khasru Bhai healthy, keeps him well.”
