Rail communication with Rangpur suspends for 8 hrs

Rail communication between Rangpur and other parts of the country was restored after eight hours due to the derailment of a freight train (wagon) at the Parvatipur railway junction in Dinajpur.

This incident took place on Saturday morning, Rangpur Railway Station Superintendent Shankar Ganguly confirmed this.

Meanwhile, the passengers were suffering due to the disruption of railway communication between Rangpur and other parts of the country.

The freight train was going to Rangpur from Parvatipur with 31 coaches full of wheat from Chattogram. On reaching the spot around 8:30 in the morning, one compartment of the train derailed.

After this incident, the rail connection between Rangpur and Parbatipur was stopped. At that time, the Bonarpara-bound ‘Dolonchapa Express’ got stuck at Parbatipur, the ‘Burimari Mail’ train from Burimari got stuck in Kholahati, and the ‘Kurigram Express’ train from Kurigram also got stuck. After the incident, a rescue train arrived at the spot around 10:30 am and started rescue work.

Rail communication was restored after eight hours at 4 p.m.
