Clashes and chases and counter-chases took place between the students of the Dhaka College and the Ideal College in Science Laboratory area of the capital on Saturday.
The clash started around 11.00am over the previous enmity.
Teachers of the both colleges soon rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.
Additional police have been deployed in the area to meet the emergency.
Officer-in-Charge of New Market Thana SM Kaium confirmed the news to the media saying that traffic movement on the road is now normal. It was not immediately clear what had caused the clash, OC added.
But it is suspected that the clash may have taken place over a previous dispute between some of the students.
