Fortune Barishal registered an easy 27-run win over Durdanto Dhaka in the 31st match of the Ispahani Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Cricket at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram, the port city of the country on Wednesday.
Fortune Barishal collected 10 points from nine matches, while Durdanto Dhaka remained with two points from 10 outings.
Electing to bat first, Fortune Barishal piled up a mammoth total of 186 for the loss of six wickets in the stipulated 20 overs and restricted Dhaka to 159 for the loss of eight wickets in 20 overs.
Fortune Barishal had a solid start with two openers Ahmed Shehzad and Tamim Iqbal put on together 76 runs before Shehzad (24) was dismissed by Alauddin Babu.
Tamim Iqbal and one-down Soumya Sarkar built another worthy partnership scoring together 48 runs in the second wicket stand before Tamim Iqbal was dismissed by Alauddin Babu when Barishal’s score was 128 for the loss of two wickets.
Tamim notched up a sparkle 71. His 45-ball innings was belted with four sixes and seven fours. Tamim Iqbal was adjudged the Man of the Match.
After Tamim’s departure, Barishal batters failed to make any notable partnership.
Soumya Sarkar made 28 from 23 deliveries featuring three fours and a sixer.
Shehzad scored 24 from 22 balls including four fours. Mohammad Saifuddin remained unbeaten with 23. He hit two sixes and two fours in his six-ball windy knock.
Alauddin Babu captured three wickets in the space of 30 runs, while Taskin Ahmed claimed two wickets at the cost of 30 runs.
Besides, Shoriful Islam got one wicket conceding 40 runs.
Later, Durdanto Dhaka faced a disaster as they lost seven wickets for 80 runs. Second-down Alex Ross fought back scoring an unbeaten 89 runs. His 49-ball innings had seven sixes and five fours.
Alex Ross and Taskin Ahmed built a remarkable partnership putting together 46 runs in the eight-wicket stand before Taskin Ahmed (10) was dismissed by Mohammad Saifuddin when Dhaka’s total was 126 for the loss of eight wickets.
After Taskin’s dismissal, Alex Ross and Arafat Sunny (8) (not out) contributed together 33 runs for the unbroken ninth wicket partnership before Dhaka’s innings came to an end.
Khaled Ahmed and Mohammad Saifuddin grabbed three wickets each instead of 26 and 31 runs respectively.
Obed McCoy and Keshav Maharaj took one wicket each for 17 and 19 runs respectively.
