Three members of a family, including a woman and her daughter, died and several others were injured after a boiler was exploded at a rice mill in Thakurgaon Sadar Upazila on Thursday morning.
The deceased were identified as Deepti Das, 40, wife of one Sagor Das, his daughter Puja, 11 and Palak Das, 12, son of Umakanto Das of Daspara village.
According to local sources, the rice mill boiler was exploded due to excessive heat.
Abu Hannan Mohammad Hannu, Chairman of Rahimanpur Union Parishad, said the people who are responsible for the incident will be brought under law after investigation.
Feroz Wahid, Officer-in-charge of Thakurgaon Sadar Police Station, confirmed the matter to the media saying that police, and fire service visited the site after the explosion.
“The incident is being investigated. Legal action will be taken if a case is filed,” OC said.
Efforts are underway to apprehend the mill’s owner over the incident, he added.
