The Election Commission on Tuesday announced that the upazila parishad elections will be held in four phases.
The first phase of voting will be held on May 4, the second phase on May 11, the third phase on May 18 and the fourth (final) phase on May 25.
Election Commission Secretary Jahangir Alam gave this information after a meeting held at Agargaon Nirbachan Bhaban in the afternoon.
The secretary said that upazila parishad elections will be held in four phases like previous years.
The upazilas which will fall in which phase will be informed on the website next week considering the tenure of the upazila.
He said that the date of the election will be determined based on the date of the first meeting after taking the oath after the previous election.
Additional deputy commissioners and election officers will perform duties as returning officers in this election. The district commissioner will be the appellate authority.
According to the latest information, 483 upazila parishads are eligible for election.
