Robbers looted valuables worth Tk 10 lakh from a house at Shibganj Lamapara in the city early Friday.
Shahidul Islam, a trader, said a gang of robbers entered his house breaking window and kept the house inmates hostage at gunpoint at about 3:30 am.
Later the robbers looted valuables including Tk3 lakh cash and 10 tolas of gold ornaments worth Tk 10 lakh and went away with the booty.
However, Shahidul Islam was not present during the incident as he was away in Dhaka for business purpose.
Shakhwat Hossain, officer-in-charge of Shahparan Police Station, said police visited the spot on Friday morning.
