Wasfia Nazreen has made another history of being the first Bangladeshi to scale the Mount Denali, commonly known as Mount McKinley, the highest mountain of North America.
Wasfia, who conquered the highest peak of Mount Everest as the second Bangladeshi female mountaineer, reached the summit of Mount Denali, otherwise known as Mount McKinley at 8:20am on June 24 (at 6:20pm on June 23 -Alaska time).
Later, She called her Spokesperson Korvi Rakshand in Bangladesh from the summit, using a satellite phone and shared her latest thrilling achievement.
According to press release, the Denali National Park Service has declared Wasfia as the first Bangladeshi to have had ascended the mountain.
“This season has been extremely treacherous, with the weather said to be the worst in 20 years. As attested in attached photo, Wasfia was lucky to be amongst the 33 per cent of the summit success rate.”
Denali has a summit elevation of 20,237 feet (6,168 m) above sea level. At some 18,000 feet (5,500 m) the base-to-peak rise is considered the largest of any mountain situated entirely above sea level.
It is also the longest landmass of mountain on the planet as well as the coldest one. According to the statistics, 13% of who attend Denali are Women and only 10 per cent who reach the summit are women.
Wasfia Nazreen, has become the 1st Bangladeshi to scale this Arctic giant.
This is the 6th success of the Bangladeshi mountaineer on Seven Summits Campaign.
In 2011, Wasfia, who is also a social-worker & writer, had taken up the challenge of climbing the highest mountains of each of the seven continents in celebration of 40 years of independence of Bangladesh and women’s progress.
She has successfully completed six continents.
