The wall of an old farmer’s house has been broken due to a herd of elephants coming to the area in search of food in Barahatia Union of Lohagara, Chittagong.
The incident took place in Hossain Nagar of Ward No. 1 of the Union at 3 pm on Friday. Local UP member Abu Bakkar Siddiqui confirmed the incident and said that last night a herd of elephants entered the locality in search of food and ate the paddy of several people and also broke the wall of farmer Mong Khoi Mra Marma’s house and ate the paddy in the house. .
Aggrieved farmer Mong Khoi Mra Marma said elephants often move here. However, they never entered the house. But last night, a herd of 6 elephants came in search of food. They ate the newly brought paddy from the land that broke the wall of my house. When the locals made noise and tried to drive away the fire. The crop fell towards the land and ate the paddy cut on the land as it went. In total it has eaten about 50 acres of paddy. Now I am in a panic because the wall of the house is broken.
