Woman held with 8.2 kg gold at HSIA

Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate (CIID) officials arrested a female passenger alongwith 8.2 kg gold at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) in the capital on Tuesday night.
The accused woman has been identified as Rekha Parveen who came from Dubai on a flight of Emirates Airlines around 11pm. The team recovered the gold from Parveen’s white handbag,wrapped with scotch tape. The market value of the seized gold is around Tk 6.57 crore. Farhana Begum, Assistant Director of the Customs Intelligence and Investigation Department confirmed the matter to the media saying that while searching the woman, the customs officials found the gold bars in a handbag of the detainee at the airport
