400m tons potatoes imported from India

A total of 400 metric tons of potatoes have been imported from India through Benapole port to control the market price on Thursday evening. The Consignment of Potatoes will be released on Sunday.
Besides rice, pulses, wheat, eggs, onions and green chillies, the government has also given permission to import potatoes. Director of the port Rezaul Karim confirmed the importation of 400 metric tons of potatoes imported by 16 trucks in two consignments at the evening on Thursday.
Integrated Food and Beverages is the importer of potatoes in Dhaka. The exporting company is PepsiCo India Holdings of India. Transmarine Logistics Limited C&F Agent filed the necessary documents to assessment and delivery the potatoconsignment from the port.
Transmarine Logistics Limited C&F Agent Manager Masum Billa said, Last Thursday, 400 metric tons of potatoes were imported in 16 Indian trucks. He import cost of potato per metric ton is USD 194. He said that the potato consignment will be delivered on Monday.
Hemanto Kumar Sarkar, deputy assistant officer of Benapole port’s plant pest control center, said 400 metric tons of potatoes were imported from India through the port.
If the importer submits the necessary documents, the release will be allowed after the quality test of the potato.
Benapole Land Port Director Rezaul Karim said, 400 metric tons of potatoes have been imported through Benapole port in two consignments. The potato shipment is still at port. Field officials have been instructed to clear potato delivered quickly.
Rabindra Singh, Deputy Commissioner of Benapole Customs House, said that it is not possible to clear the potato shipment from the port on Friday-Saturday -Sunday due to public holidays.
