Mosaddek hits ton: Abahani beat Mohammedan in Super League of DPL Cricket

Dhaka Abahani Limited beat Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited by nine runs in their Super League match of the Dhaka Premier League (DPL) Cricket at the Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah on Friday.

After yesterday’s outcome, unbeaten champions Dhaka Abahani Limited gained 30 points from 15 matches, while Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited collected 22 points from as many matches.

Electing to bat first, Abahani piled up a massive total of 303 runs off 44.4 overs and then restricted Mohammedan to 294 for the loss of six wickets in 50 overs.

Abahani lost their early three wickets for 54 runs.

Then, Sabbir Hossain and Mosaddek Hossain repaired the damage contributing together 117 runs for the fourth wicket partnership before Sabbir Hossain was dismissed by Nasum Ahmed when Abahani’s score was 171 for the loss of four wickets.

Mosaddek Hossain hit a captain’s knock of 133. His 101-ball innings was studded with 10 sixes and eight fours. Mosaddek was adjudged the Man of the Match for his terrific innings.

Sabbir notched up a superb 91. He hit six sixes and seven fours in his 78-ball knock.

After Sabbir’s dismissal, Mosaddek and Nahidul Islam built a worthy partnership. They scored together 49 runs in the fifth wicket stand before Nahidul Islam (16) was dismissed by Mehidy Hasan Miraz when Abahani’s total was 220 for the loss of five wickets.

After Nahidul’s departure, Mosaddek and Mosabber Hossain added 67 runs for the sixth wicket partnership before Mosaddek was dismissed by Rubel Mia when Abahani’s score was 287 for the loss of six wickets.

After Mosaddek’s dismissal, Abahani batters failed to build any notable partnership.
Abu Hider and Mehidy Hasan Miraz grabbed three wickets each instead of 40 and 52 runs respectively.

Nayeem Hasan, Rubel Mia, Nasum Ahmed took one wicket apiece.

Mohammedan faced an early debacle as they lost two wickets for 45 runs.

One-down Imrul Kayes and Mahidul Islam Ankon mended the innings putting together 87 runs in the third wicket stand before Imrul Kayes was dismissed by Raqibul Hasan when Mohammedan’s total was 132 for the loss of three wickets.

Imrul hit a marvelous 59. His 60-ball innings was laced with eight fours and one six.

Later, Rubel Mia and Abu Hider fought back contributing together 96 runs for the unbroken seventh wicket partnership before Mohammedan’s innings came to an end.

Rubel Mia remained unbeaten with 65 runs. He hit three sixes and three fours in his 62-ball innings.

Abu Hider scored 40 runs from 27 deliveries including four fours and two sixes.
Nahidul Islam captured three wickets in the space of 44 runs.
Al Fahad, Jayed Ullah and Raqibul Hasan took one wicket each.
