Abahani keep winning streak in Super League of DPL Cricket

League Leaders Dhaka Abahani Limited kept their winning streak in the Super League of the Dhaka Premier League (DPL) Cricket after thrashing Gazi Group Cricketers by 171 runs in their match at the Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah on Thursday.

After yesterday’s outcome, unbeaten Dhaka Abahani Limited gained 26 points from 13 matches, while Gazi Group Cricketers remained with 14 points from as many outings.

Electing to bat first, Dhaka Abahani Limited piled up a mammoth total of 343 for the loss of five wickets in the allotted 50 overs and then shot out Gazi Group Cricketers for 172 off 35.1 overs.

Abahani had a solid start with two openers Mohammad Naim and Litton Das put on together 57 runs in the opening stand before Mohammad Naim (33) was dismissed by Sheikh Parvez Jibon.

After Naim’s dismissal, Litton Das could stay at the crease for a short period as he (33) was dismissed by Awlad Hossain when Abahani’s score was 69 for the loss of two wickets.

After Litton’s departure, Najmul Hossain Shanto and Anamul Haque built a worthy partnership. They scored together 130 runs in the third wicket stand before Anamul Haque was dismissed by Foysal Ahmed when Abahani’s score was 199 for the loss of three wickets.

Anamul Haque notched up a superb 68. His 51-ball innings was laced with five sixes and four fours.

After Anamul’s dismissal, Najmul Hossain Shanto and Towhid Hridoy contributed together 59 runs for the fourth wicket partnership before Shanto was dismissed Sheikh Parvez Jibon when Abahani’s total was 258 for the loss of four wickets.

Shanto hit a captain’s knock of 101. His 84-ball knock was laced with six sixes and eight fours. Shanto was adjudged the Man of the Match for his outstanding innings.

Jaker Ali (11) was dismissed by Ruyel Miah when Abahani’s score was 286 for the loss of five wickets.

Then, Towhid Hridoy and Mosaddek Hossain put up together 57 runs for the unbroken sixth wicket partnership before Abahani’s innings came to an end.

Hridoy remained unbeaten with 58 runs. His 40-ball knock was laced with four sixes and three fours.

Sheikh Parvez Jibon captured two wickets in the space of 50 runs. Later, Sabbir Hossain fought back against the tight, controlled and superb bowling attack of Abahani bowlers.

Sabbir hit a superb 62 from 68 deliveries including eight fours and a sixer.

Rakibul Hasan grabbed four wickets in the space of 44 runs, while Mosaddek Hossain and Tanzim Hasan bagged two wickets each for 34 and 53 runs respectively.

Besides, Tanvir Islam and Khaled Ahmed took one wicket apiece.
