Staff Reporter :
The ruling Awami League General Secretary, Obaidul Quader, has raised concerns over a prolonged conspiracy aimed at toppling the elected government.

Quader made these assertions during a leaflet distribution ceremony held at the party’s central office on Bangabandhu Avenue in the capital.

Quader, who also serves as the Road Transport and Bridges Minister, emphasised that there has been a continuous effort to destabilise the government, stating, “A conspiracy has been ongoing for a long time to topple the selected government.”

He further expressed his apprehensions about the existence of propaganda against Bangladesh, both domestically and internationally.

During the ceremony, Quader highlighted the unprecedented development witnessed by the country over the last 15 years, attributing it to the stability of the government. He stressed, “As the country’s
democracy remains stable, it has made such progress.”

Drawing attention to the challenges posed by anti-state forces, Quader called for unity among the populace to resist the ongoing conspiracy and turmoil. He underscored the importance of protecting democracy, maintaining a stable political environment, and safeguarding the people’s voting rights against subversive activities.

Quader echoed the call of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for citizens to exercise their constitutional rights through voting, emphasising the pivotal role of the electorate in empowering the government.

He urged the public to support Awami League candidates, asserting that the party stands against corruption, terrorism, militancy, and other social crimes.

Highlighting the party’s commitment to democratic principles, Quader contrasted the Awami League’s governance with the past, alleging that during the tenure of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), militant activities were rampant.

In contrast, he claimed that under the Awami League’s leadership, the country has seen a cessation of political violence and the establishment of a constitutional government.
