Baraigram school teacher gets 2-year jail term

A school teacher named Md. Golam Rabbani (50) has been sentenced to two years rigorous imprisonment and 15 days rigorous imprisonment for non-payment of a fine of three thousand taka for assault in Natore’s Baraigram upazila. Golam Rabbani is the son of Pir Mahmud of Choumuhan village in the upazila and the head teacher of Choumuhan Abdul Quddus Government Primary School.
Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Md. Roshan Ali, after hearing both sides, declared Gholam Rabbani guilty and sentenced him to jail and acquitted the other two accused in the case, Sajal (20) and Rabiul (40) of the same village.
Plaintiff’s lawyer Ed. Rafiqul Islam informed these information and said, the neighbor Sultana Razia was beaten by the accused on July 9 in 2017. Her husband Md. Abdul Jabbar filed a case against 3 people including the head teacher in Natore Judge Court. Case No: 236/17. After a long trial, the learned judge announced the verdict on Wednesday.
Jabbar Hossain, the plaintiff of the case, expressed satisfaction with the verdict. However, the defendant’s lawyer Shariful Haque Mukta said, hoping to get good justice in this matter, an appeal will be filed in the high court in a short time.
