Staff Reporter :
Foreign Minister Dr. Hasan Mahmud stated that Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu has turned into an enemy of humanity and Bangladesh fully supports his arrest by the International Criminal Court (ICC).

“Bangladesh fully supports the arrest warrant issued against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu by the Chief Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC),” he said while speaking as the chief guest at a discussion titled ‘World Peace and Recognition of the State of Palestine,’ organised by the Bangladesh Liberation Council and Ganobangla Weekly on Friday afternoon at the Diplomatic Engineers Institute in the capital. “The Prime Minister of Israel has now turned into an enemy of humanity.

He has gone so far that he is not even listening to the United States,” Hasan Mahmud said.

At this time, Hasan Mahmud criticised the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and Jamaat-e-Islami for their silence, what he claims, regarding the Palestine issue.

He said, “BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami shed tears for Islam but never speak a word in favor of Palestine when there is mass murder in Gaza.”

“The Jamaat-e-Islami keeps silent about Israel, does not utter a word against the killings in Palestine. In this way, by remaining silent, BNP-Jamaat has become the friend of Netanyahu,” Dr Hasan, also a Joint General Secretary of the Awami League, said.

Stating the clear position of the Awami League against the genocide in Gaza, he said, “Islamic parties have also held demonstrations before the elections in front of Baitul Mukarram, but they could not organise a big gathering in favour of Palestine, whereas the student wings of Chhatra League and Awami League did.”

The Foreign Minister said, “Establishing world peace requires the urgent formation of a Palestinian state. Israeli forces are firing indiscriminately. People are being killed.

People all over the world are now in favour of Palestine. But when this issue is raised in the United Nations, some countries veto it. This is extremely unfortunate.”

He said, ‘Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina always thinks about Palestine. She has sent assistance for Palestine. She always speaks in favour of Palestine.”

Speaking as the chief discussant at the meeting, Faridul Haque Khan Dulal, Minister of Religious Affairs, said, “Bangladesh’s position is in favour of Palestine.

Bangladesh has always condemned Israel’s brutality. Even if when Israel recognised Bangladesh, we rejected it.”

He said, “Our position on the Palestine issue is very clear. We want a two-state solution.

Muslim sentiments are attached to Al-Aqsa.

We want Muslims to have a separate homeland, country, and flag there. We will have all support and cooperation in this regard.”

Agriculture expert and Member of Parliament Awlad Hossain said, “Humanity is being violated in Palestine.

Children, women, and men are being killed there. This heinous killing is being termed as genocide worldwide.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is playing the role of the mother of humanity by speaking against Israel’s brutality.”
