The 3rd “JRC Memorial Lecture” by BUET alumni will take place at the Agargaon IAB Centre on April 25, 2024.
The Annual JRC Memorial Lecture has been established by BUET Alumni (Bangladesh University of Engineering & Technology Alumni Association) to share knowledge of today’s practitioners with tomorrow’s engineers, scientists, public policy makers, and more.
It is an annually recurring lecture presented in November, his birth month, to celebrate the legacy and vision of JRC. The focus of this 60-minute lecture is to bring renowned global leaders, visionaries, and contributors together to share and promote intellectual thoughts and knowledge for the future of the world. The target audience includes students, alumni, scientists, practitioners’s policymakers, and social leaders.
This lecture is inspired by the work and vision of Dr. Jamilur Reza Choudhury (popularly known as JRC), the National Professor of Bangladesh. Dr. Jamilur Reza Choudhury was an internationally recognised civil engineer, educator, researcher, and administrator.
He was the most eminent personality in the engineering community of Bangladesh and made a great impact on science and technical education, the engineering profession, and national development, particularly the development of the infrastructure and IT sectors of Bangladesh.
Professor Choudhury served as the vice chancellor for BRAC University and the University of Asia Pacific and was awarded the prestigious Ekushe Padak in the category of science and technology in 2017 and the most honoured National Professor academic rank in 2018 by the Government of Bangladesh.

Dr. Choudhury served as the President of the BUET Alumni Association from 2005 until he breathed last in 2019 and was instrumental in bringing together the alumni of BUET from all over the globe.
