City’s 3 restaurants fined Tk 3 lakh

No fire service clearance, no Rajuk approval. The trade license of the city corporation was also taken at the false address.

Three restaurants operating commercial activities in residential buildings have been fined one lakh taka each. The fine was imposed by the mobile court run by Dhaka North City Corporation .

The restaurants are Pinewood and Tajin Nawabi Cuisine Restaurant at plot 48 on road 13-C, Banani area; Turkish Bazaar another bulding at plot No 50 next these two restaurants.

On the surface, it can be seen that there is a three-story residential building on plot 48. The ground floor of the building is residential. Pinewood restaurant is on the second floor.

And on the third floor is another restaurant called Tajin Nawabi Cuisine. The kitchen and dining area of this restaurant is covered by a tin roof.

Next to it is another building on plot No. 50. On the ground floor is another establishment called Turkish Bazaar and Restaurant. The restaurant employees put off the lights seeing the mobile court.

Officials of the city corporation said that commercial activities are not allowed in the building. There is no way to run the restaurant. Being a residential building, they did not even apply for fire service clearance.

And the trade license taken from the City Corporation showing another address. The same is the case with Turkish Bazaar and restaurant.

These three restaurants were fined in the raid for not having any approval, Zulkar Nain, Regional Executive Officer and Executive Magistrate of Dhaka North City, who operates the mobile court, said.

In view of the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan, three restaurants are currently being fined. They have to leave residential buildings and shift to commercial buildings. Otherwise, the building has to get commercial approval.

The Executive Magistrate also said, ‘We will take action against these two building owners according to the house tax payment information. How they pay residential tax and rent for commercial purposes will be seen. There will be a regular case against the owner of the two buildings.’

Earlier, the illuminated signboard of another restaurant, Turkish Adana Kebab, on the ground floor of a residential building on the 17-A road was broken and removed. The city corporation officials said that this restaurant also has no approval. The restaurant workers locked up after seeing the presence of the mobile court.
