CMCH PG trainees, intern doctors on strike for 2 days

Post graduate trainees and intern doctors are going on strike again after one week strike. This time a two-day strike has been announced in Chattogram MedicalCollege Hospital.

Saturday (March 23) Post Graduate Private Trainee Doctors Association President Dr. Jabir Hossain and General Secretary Dr. Md. Nurunnabi signed this announcement in the notification.

It is said, “Intern doctors and post-graduate private doctors met with the health minister on March 23 to demand payment of allowances and increase in allowances and the health minister has assured to take action within the next 48 hours.”

For 48 hours (March 24 and 25) all trainee doctors and intern doctors (except emergency and casualty duty) of the country are going on strike from all types of duty.

Chittagong Medical College is also on strike by private postgraduate trainee doctors. Trainee Dr. Rakib Adnan Chowdhury told that ‘we are observing the strike in solidarity with the central organization’.

Postgraduate trainees and interns have 4 common demands:

The salary of intern doctors should be increased to 30 thousand rupees and the salary of postgraduate private trainee doctors should be increased to 50 thousand rupees.

Post Graduate Trainee Physicians (FCPS, Resident and Non-Resident) are required to pay arrears of allowance.

The non-resident and resident allowance of 12 private institutes should be revoked and the allowance should be reinstated. A doctor’s protection law should be enacted immediately.
