DB Chief said a team of Cyber and Special Crime (South) of DB, led by Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Saifur Rahman Azad, arrested them in separate drives from different areas of the capital.

Earlier, the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) filed a case with the Ramna Police Station alleging that an organized gang with vested interests had been influencing investors with fake information for a long time.

After the investigation detectives arrested the accused from parts of the capital city, the DB chief said, adding that the arrestees maintained various secret groups on social platforms including Facebook, Whatsapp, and Telegram to spread false and misleading information.

Besides, the arrestees often extorted money from the listed companies. If the companies refused to pay the money, the accused began online propaganda against those companies and even attacked the companies’ offices, DB officials added.
