Dr. Yunus has characterised these moves as ‘plundering’, public harassment and ‘blueprint’ to destroy his social enterprises.

Dr Muhammad Yunus has alleged that Grameen Bank has seized eight of their institutions.

“We approached police but did not get any help,” he alleged at a press conference at Grameen Telecom office in Mirpur on February 15.

“Now outsiders will decide if I can enter my office.

I have fallen into misery.

I am in a terrible situation. We built this building, it is the realisation of our dream. Suddenly, four days ago, outsiders came and started illegally occupying them and we became outsiders,” he said.

Dr Yunus said he would move the court. In response to a question, he said these institutions were built with the money from business profits. “We didn’t use Grameen Bank’s money. Everything happened in accordance with the law,” he said.

Grameen Telecom building houses 16 companies. Dr Yunus is the chairman of each of them.

On February 12, eight offices in this building were taken over by Grameen Bank, Dr Yunus said.
