Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun emphasised the importance of neutrality and upholding human rights in police work during his address to new officers on Tuesday.

The IGP spoke at the orientation programme for Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASPs) from the 41st Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) batch at the Police Headquarters.

He highlighted the evolving nature of policing, stating, “Policing is a challenging profession, and its future will be based on knowledge and science. This profession is continually facing new challenges.”

IGP Al-Mamun stressed the importance of dedicated training for the new officers. “During the year-long training at Bangladesh Police Academy, Sarda, Rajshahi, you will acquire knowledge and skills about modern techniques to combat crime, the use of intelligence information, and information technology to curb crime,” he said.

He added, “There has been a huge change in the nature and pattern of crime.
