Medical student shot in class, teacher detained

A medical College student was shot by the teacher at M Mansur Ali Medical College in Sirajganj on Monday.

The injured student has been identified as Arafat Amin Tamal. Meanwhile the accused teacher identified as Dr. Raihan Sharif.

The incident took place on Monday after in the medical college campus. The injured Tamal is now undergoing treatment at the Hospital.
After the incident, the students were protesting for the trial of the accused teacher in this incident. Police were also working to control the situation.

Police picked up Dr. Raihan following the incident, and they are investigating the incident, said Mohammad Hannan Miah, Additional SP (Admin & finance) of Sirajganj police.

According to the sources, accused Dr. Rayhan Sharif is a teacher in the community medicine department of College. He normally comes to the campus with weapons openly.

On Monday, when he wanted to take his classes untimely, the presence students become agitated and told him not to conduct the class. As a result, the teacher shot Tamal in the leg after arguing about this.

The police officer said the injury was not as severe as it could have been as the bullet first hit the mobile phone in the student’s pocket.

A tense situation is prevailing at the college campus and additional police forces were deployed.
