Staff Reporter :
Health Minister Dr. Samanta Lal Sen said that it is not the sole responsibility of the Ministry of Health to stop illegal treatment and violence against doctors in rural pharmacies. Local public representatives, including the MP and the Upazila chairman, have a role to play. If they visit all these places, identify them, and give us a report, we can take action.

He said these things in response to questions from journalists after visiting Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital on Thursday afternoon.

The health minister said, “I have been to Osmani Medical before. But today I am coming with another responsibility. From what I saw, the situation in all hospitals is the same here, with patients on the ground. The problem I have identified is that we lack manpower here in various upazilas.”

He said that if we can provide proper medical services in the upazilas, then the patients will not have to lie on the ground in the medical college hospitals. This problem cannot be solved in a day. I am trying to solve the problems step by step.

During the visit to the hospital, Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Medical University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. AHM Enayet Hossain, Director of Osmani Hospital Brigadier General Dr. Mahbubur Rahman Bhuiyan, Principal of Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Dr. Shishir Ranjan Chakraborty, Central Secretary General of Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA) Dr. Ehteshamul Haque Chowdhury Dulal, and various officials and employees were present.
