Prime Minister and Awami League (AL) President Sheikh Hasina reiterated on Monday that her government stands resolute, dismissing opposition aspirations of toppling it and plunging the country into darkness once again. She emphasised that the people firmly support her party, demonstrating their trust through repeated electoral mandates.

Addressing a discussion commemorating the 104th birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, and National Children’s Day 2024, organised by the AL at its Dhaka district unit office in Tejgaon, the Prime Minister underscored the enduring support her party enjoys from the populace.

“The BNP-Jamaat alliance dreams of ousting the Awami League government.

However, they seem to forget that the Awami League always stands by the people, who repeatedly vote for the party,” Prime Minister Hasina asserted while presiding over the event.

She criticised the opposition for prioritising hosting iftar parties during Ramadan over efforts to assist the needy and lambasted their call for elections under a caretaker government.

In contrast, she highlighted AL’s commitment to serving the people by distributing iftar items among the impoverished nationwide and eschewing lavish events.

“The countrymen support the Awami League because they consistently find it by their side in times of need,” the Prime Minister remarked, emphasising the party’s dedication to the welfare of the citizens.

Prime Minister Hasina questioned the motives behind the opposition’s desire to overthrow the AL government, asserting that her administration’s track record includes monumental achievements such as Bangladesh’s independence and strides towards development and prosperity.
