Procurement of Boro paddy, rice kicks off

The government started the procurement of Boro paddy and rice across the country on Tuesday. Food Minister Sadhan Chandra Majumder, MP inaugurated the procurement through video platform from the Secretariat.

Food Minister said that, the government aims to procure 70 per cent of Boro paddy within June, though Boro procurement activities will continue through August 31. The government will procure at least 17 lakh tonnes of paddy and rice. Besides, stern action will be taken against individuals found to be involved in harassing farmers during procurement.

In Kishoreganj, a video conference was held at local Collectorate Conference room on Tuesday morning. Depury Commissioner (DC) Md. Abul Kalam Azad presided over the meeting connected to Food Ministry.

SP (DSB) Noor-e Alam, Distend Food Controller Asadullah Mollah, Deputy Director of Agriculture Extention Abdus Satter, ADC(General) Rubel Mahamud, CAB district president Alam Sarowar Tito, Senior journalist A.K Nasim khan Saiful Haque Mollah Dulu and others dignified persons were present.

Boro paddy 21864 tonnes and Rice 20364 tonnes procure drive in 13 Upazilas of Kishoreganj continuing amid much enthusiasm among the farmers.
