Rahman group working to earn foreign currency

SM Zillur Rahman is Chairman and CEO of Rahman group. He is President of BBCMF a business based organisation.
He is Director of Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI). He is Senator of World Business Angel Investment Forum and also President of World Association for Small and Medium Enterprise. Rahman group was established on 1996. It has been reached to among the top companies in the country within short time. The associates companies of the Rahman group are Rahman Overseas Trade, Rahman Overseas, Rahtech Industries Ltd, Rahtech Developers Ltd and Lobster Restaurant Ltd. The group companies are working for different businesses like recruiting international manpower, Readymade garments and textiles, real estate developers, constructions, Export-import and restaurant business.
SM Zillur Rahman talked with The New Nation recently about different issues related to Rahman group and the business environment of the country.
Replying to a query, Zillur Rahman said the business environment of the country is not desirable now for several reasons including dollar crisis and political instability. He said businessmen are in restraint to invest now for these circumstances.
Zillur Rahman said Rahman group is working for earning very important foreign currency through different businesses including manpower exporting and RMG exporting.
He said his group also engaged in various fields including construction businesses and restaurants, which is contributing economic advancement of the country, he added.
Replying to a query, the Chairman and CEO said that the political gap between USA and Bangladesh government might be resolved and it may not impact on the bilateral businesses.
Replying to another query over reducing remittances due to hundi circles activities, Zillur Rahman said a portion of migrant Bangladeshis are sending their money through hundi which created bad impact on remittance earnings.
“The hundi circle is very active on collecting migrant workers money through their illegal channel. It has been played a big role on reducing remittance earnings. The government has to do more to solve the issue,” he said. Rahman said to reply another query about undesirable manpower exporting issue, that there are many reasons behind reducing trend of migrant workers recruitment in different countries including Malaysia.
He said the way of going Malaysia is become shrunken. As a result, number of people trying to go Malaysia in vessels crossing sea with huge risks of life. Many of those sea crossing people become victimise of being captives in jungle as slavery in Malaysia and neighboring Thailand.
Besides, many are going Malaysia throug tourists or student visas and eventually become illegal workers there.
All of those matters created bad impact on manpower exporting to Malaysia, he said.
Replying to another query about what measures is needed to export manpower to Europe, Rahman said the western countries are thirsty to get skilled workers from Bangladesh.
The European countries and the Middle-East needed about four crore of skilled manpower from abroad within 2030.
“It is the high time to get prepared right now for coping the huge opportunity,” he suggested.
He said that it is no doubt that Bangladesh is lagging behind of exporting skilled manpower abroad then the other Asian countries like Sri Lanka, India and Pakistan.
Replying to a query, Zillur Rahman said the ‘Vision-2041’ is the time befitting announcement of the Prime Minister.
The Rahman Group Chairman and CEO suggested the youth to get ready for getting challenges of the fourth industrial revolutions and Artificial Intelligence (AI) with their own merit and creativities and courage to make a bright and gorgeous Bangladesh before the world.
About manpower exporting activities of Rahman Overseas, Zillur Rahman said, the recruiting companies of Saudi Arab, UAE, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman, Libya, Bahrain, Jordan, Malaysia, Brunei, Singapore and other countries are rely on their companies for their sincere role on manpower recruitment.
Zillur Rahman said his company has awarded various awards including two gold medals and many crests as acknowledgements of their dignifying contributions of exporting manpower properly from home and abroad.
