A construction slowdown in front of Avishar Chinema Hall at Motijheel in Dhaka has triggered a monumental traffic gridlock, escalating the suffering of commuters to unprecedented levels.

The snail-paced progress of construction work has led to extensive tailbacks, exacerbating the already congested roads in the area.
The sluggish pace of construction has not only paralyzed traffic flow in Motijheel but has also sent ripples of disruption to the Padma Bridge, compounding the woes of travelers and commuters alike. As vehicles inch forward at a glacial pace in Motijheel, the effects cascade, creating a domino effect that reverberates through major thoroughfares, including the vital artery of the Padma Bridge.

This traffic nightmare has plunged commuters into a state of frustration and despair as they grapple with interminable delays and unforeseen hurdles in reaching their destinations. The situation is further exacerbated by the absence of effective traffic management measures, leaving motorists stranded in interminable queues for prolonged periods.

Residents and commuters are appealing to the relevant authorities to expedite the construction work and implement immediate measures to alleviate the burgeoning traffic congestion.

An official from the Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s Motijheel Zone, speaking anonymously to The New Nation, the escalating traffic congestion due to ongoing construction projects in the area. While addressing concerns over the mounting traffic woes, the official underscored the formidable challenges faced by law enforcement in managing the situation.

A construction worker told The New Nation that we got the approval from Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) and working with electricity, particularly during nighttime hours, poses increased risks due to reduced visibility, fatigue, and potential disruptions to sleep patterns.

Commuters, especially those transporting ICU patients or heading to medical facilities, emphasize the route’s significance in their daily lives.
