Suchanda, Babita, Champa – potential resource for docu

block

Sheikh Arif Bulbon :
The pride of Bangladeshi cinema is three sisters – Suchanda, Babita and Champa. Suchanda and Babita are not acting in any new movie for a long time. Champa occasionally acted in movies and television dramas. But she is also
not very regular.
However, the three sisters were seen together on a special occasion.
The last time the three sisters were seen together in the elections of the Film Artistes’ Association. They went to BFDC to cast their votes. Suchanda, Babita and Champa were first seen acting together in Shibli Sadik directed movie titled ‘Tin Kanya’.
While talking in this regard, Suchanda told this correspondent, “Basically my father’s dream was that we three sisters act together in movies. That is why we acted in the movie ‘Tin Kanya’ under the direction of Shibli Bhai. However, after the movie ‘Tin Kanya’, we, three sisters, did not act together in the same movie anymore.”
However, Babita and Champa acted together in the movie ‘Bashona’ produced by Suchanda’s production company. Two filmmakers expressed their interest in making a movie together about these three sisters, the pride of Bangladesh. However, what is more important than that is to make a documentary about the three of them. If not a movie, at least the documentary can be made for future generations; it is the demand of the time.
Noted actress Babita shared her feelings by this way, “Our three sisters are interested. Of course, if I get a good story, I will work in the movie. But now why it seems, it is no longer possible. But let’s talk about documentaries or documentaries that too should be done with 100 per cent attention after a lot of research. If a complete documentary of the three remains, it will be an inspiration for generations to come. I don’t know if this documentary will be released.”
Another noted actress Champa told The New Nation, “It seems to me that now am the time to make a proper documentary about our three sisters,” and adding, “I left it out. The contribution of my two sisters Suchanda Apa and Babita Apa in movies of Bangladesh is presented to future generations. So, after a lot of research, making a perfect documentary is now the demand of time. I believe if my two sisters like the script, they will agree to it. But who will take this initiative. I don’t know.”
The Ministry of Information can only take this initiative, after the death of these legendary actresses. Many people have come in front of the mass media and said a lot. It should have been done. But in this country, artistes are not generally appreciated. So, it’s time to think about Suchanda, Babita and Champa.
