Teacher Din Islam denied bail again

A Cumilla court on Thursday rejected the bail plea of Jagannath University teacher Din Islam, who was relieved from the post of assistant proctor by the university, in a case over the death of law department student Fairuz Abontika.

Comilla District and Sessions Judge Nasrin Jahan passed the order around 12:30pm.

This is the second time Din Islam’s bail was rejected by the court.

Earlier, on March 20, Comilla Senior Judicial Magistrate M Abu Bakar Siddique rejected his bail application.

On March 19, a Comilla court sent Din Islam to jail after the completion of his one-day remand.

On March 18, the court placed Jagannath University’s suspended student Raihan Siddique Amman and teacher Din Islam on a two and one-day remand, respectively, in the case.

Abontika, a student of the 2017-18 academic year, was found dead at her Comilla residence after accusing classmate Amman and teacher Din Islam in a Facebook post at around 10pm on March 15.
