Tipu-Prity murder, indictment hearing Apr 25

A Dhaka court on Wednesday fixed April 25 for hearing on accepting charge-sheet against 33 people in a case filed over the sensational murder of Awami League leader Jahidul Islam Tipu and college student Samia Afrin Prity in Dhaka’s Shahjahanpur area in 2022.

Judge Ali Hossain of the Special Judge Court-3of Dhaka fixed the date after the chargesheet was submitted before the court for acceptance.

Earlier on June 5, MdYasinSikder, an Iinspector of Detective Branch of Police, also the Investigation Officer of the case, submitted the chargesheet against 33 accused including fugitive top terror Jisan and Freedom Manik.

The other accused in the case include- Councillor of Ward no 10 of Dhaka South City Corporation, Maruf Ahmed Monsur, Dhaka South City unit Awami League Organizing Secretary Ashraf Talukder, Khairul Islam, JuberAlam Khan Robin, SohelShahriar, Maruf Reza Sagar, KamruzzamanBablu, KaillaPalash, Aminul, Sohel, SumonShikder Musa, Soikat, ShikderAkash, Imran HossainJitu, MollaShamim, Rakib, BD Babu, Omar Faruk, Killer Nasir, Rifat, IshtiakHossainJitu, MahbuburRahmanTitu, Hafiz, Masum, RanaMolla and NasiruddinManik. Of the 33 accused, 24 have been arrested so far and are now behind bar.

Tipu, former General Secretary of MotijheelPolice Station Awami League, was on his microbus destined for his Khilgaon home on the night of March 24, 2022.
