Bangladesh Sample Vital Statistics 2023 has revealed that there are more women than men in Bangladesh.

It also revealed that the life expectancy of the people of the country drops to 72.3 years while its population rises to 17.15 crore now.

The organization revealed this information at the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics auditorium in Agargaon, Dhaka on Sunday.

As per the survey report, there are 17,15,90,000 people in Bangladesh now.
It showed that there are 87,390,000 women and 84,200,000 are men.

The number of women is slightly higher than that of men, by 3,190,000.
Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics Director-General Mohammed Mizanur Rahman presided over the event.

The meeting was disclosed that based on the Population and Housing Census 2022, the estimated population stood at 171,590,000 on January 1, 2024.

According to the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics, according to the latest census, the population of Bangladesh was 169,828,911 people.

As a result, the population of the country has increased to 1,761,089 people.
The data showed that the life expectancy of Bangladeshi people drops to 72.3 years.

The BBSA report showed life expectancy at birth in 2023 has decreased statistically, to 72.3 years, which was 72.4 years in 2022.

The population density is 1,179 persons per square kilometer. The gross birth rate per thousand population was 19.4 in 2023, which was 19.8 in 2022.

On the other hand, the population growth rate has decreased in a span of a year. The general growth rate of the population in 2023 is 1.33 per cent which was 1.40 per cent in 2022.

The BBS survey revealed that among the top ten causes of death, the first cause of death is cardiac arrest at 1.027 per cent and the second cause at 0.64 per cent was cerebral brain hemorrhage.

The average age at first marriage for men is 24.2 years and for women 18.4 years.

In terms of internal migration, the rural arrival rate is 20.4 and the urban arrival rate is 43.4 per thousand population.

It showed that the number of young populations not in education, work or training decreased to 39.88 per cent in 2023 compared to 40.67 per cent in 2022.

The mobile phone user population aged 5 plus increased to 59.9 per cent in 2023. However, for 15plus-year-olds, the rate has slightly increased to 74.2 per cent compared to 73.8 per cent in 2022. 50.1 per cent of Internet users aged 15 plus in 2023.

The number of birth control users in 2023 decreased slightly to 62.1 per cent in 2023 compared to 63.3 per cent in 2022.

Household size remained unchanged in 2023 as in 2022 for 4.2 per cent. However, the rate of female household heads increased in 2023 compared to 2022. It was 17.4 per cent in 2022, which increased to 18.9 per cent in 2023.

The rate of shared accommodation in urban areas now stands at 6pc, up from 5.8pc in 2022.

In 2023, approximately 3.48pc of the rural population resided in sublet accommodations, up from 2.52pc in 2022.

The overall rate of shared accommodation countrywide rose to 4.1pc in 2023, compared to 3.3pc the previous year.

“Economic activities have significantly increased in rural areas as well. Now, villages offer similar opportunities and employment as cities, which has led to an increase in the rate of sublet in rural areas,” said Alamgir Hossain, project director of the SVRS in Digital Platform project.

Not only has the number of individuals opting to live in sublets increased, but there has also been a rise in the number of people offering sublet accommodations in the country.
