The Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh, Yao Wen, said that China has shown keen interest in investing more in Bangladesh

Yao Wen said: “China has been a significant contributor to Bangladesh’s development, particularly the Padma Bridge, and has provided considerable support for this critical project. We believe that this has transformed Bangladesh, and thus, China is interested in investing more in Bangladesh.”

The Chinese ambassador said this to questions from journalists after paying tribute to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, in Tungipara, Gopalganj on Monday.

The Chinese ambassador said that they have also worked on the Bangabandhu Tunnel in Chittagong and have many other mega projects. There are investments in the infrastructure sector and significant investments in the ICT Hi-Tech Park, industry, and education sectors.

“There are more plans concerning investments in Bangladesh,” he added.

He further added: “The friendly relations between China and Bangladesh have been longstanding. The Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, wanted to build a Sonar Bengal. His daughter, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, is working towards building a smart and advanced Bangladesh, and I assure you (journalists) that China will fully support this endeavour.”

On Monday morning, he arrived at Tungipara and paid his respects by placing a wreath at the mausoleum of Bangabandhu.
