The manufacturing activities of the demolished illegal brick fields of Satkania upazila in South Chattogram restarted again after a few days of demolition. Environment Department in their two phase drives recently demolished a number of brick fields in Satkania area.
The demolished kilns are – Shahjalal Bricks(SBM) of Abu Taher in Keochia, 7 BM Bricks of Shamsul Alam of Madarbari , Danu Mia Bricks of Aochia Chankola, AAC Bricks of Churamoni Latmoni area. In that drive, the Chimni of these brick fields and kutcha bricks were also demolished . In the meantime, M/s.Shahjalal Bricks beside Chattogram-Cox’s Bazar highway again started process for manufacturing the bricks . Like same , the firing of Madarbari and other brick kilns of Keochia union also started and huge fire wood stored beside the kilns.
The picture was accessed on Monday morning . Meanwhile High Court has asked the concerned authority to submit reports of these illegal brick fields by February 22 next after taking necessary lawful actions against them by Feb 18 . It is learnt there are 33 brickfields in between Moulvi Dokan and Keranihat, 17 in Churamoni along Banskhali border, and 10 fields in Satkania Rastar Matha . Most of these brick fields have no DOE certificates and defying any laws have been continuing brick manufacturing.

Dy Director of DOE Md. Jamiruddin said they will take the necessary lawful action against these demolished brick fields after demolishing if so restarted their productions. He said as per directives of the court , the illegal brick fileds will be demolished in phases.
