Ex-JCD President Jewel sent to jail

The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka sent former Chhatradal President Abdul Kader Bhuiyan Jewel to the Keraniganj Central Jail after he surrendered in the court on Wednesday.

Jewel was sentenced to 17 years’ imprisonment in five separate cases filled with Paltan, Shahjahanpur and Dhanmondi Police Stations of the capital from August of last year to January of this year, his lawyer Advocate Yeltutmis Sawdagar Aney told the media on Wednesday.

Jewel is currently BNP’s Schechasebak affairs Secretary and warrant was issued against him.
Before, the Twelfth Parliament election, he was made accused in more than two hundred cases including the five.

Abdul Kasder Bhuiyan Jewel surrendered to the court on Wednesday in the five cases and sought bail while the court sent him to the jail rejecting the bail plea. He was shown arrested in two cases of Paltan Police Station and sent to the jail. He was sentenced in these two cases.

It may be remembered that on November 22 of last year, the court imprisoned nine people including Jewel for three years and three months in a case of Paltan Police Station. In the case they were accused of emblazing a private car and a bus.

Besides, on January 1 of this year, a court sentenced Abdul Kader Bhuiyan Jewel to three years imprisonment.
