Kazi Jesmine Akhter, chairman of Shiddhakathi union parishad under Nalchity upazila of Jahalokathi district has been arrested on early Saturday in connection of killing her brother-in-law SwechchhasebokLeague leader Kazi Ziaul Ahsan Fuad. She was arrested from her home Kazi Bari at Choddoburia villageof the union in Nalchiti Upazila of the district on around 12:30 AM Saturday. The arrestee has been produced before the court on Saturday March 30, 2024 noon.
There Mahbuba Sharmin, senior judicial magistrate of Jhalokathi district, recorded her confessional statement under section 164 of CRPC and ordered to send her to jail, confirmed Nalchiti Police Station officer in charge Murad Ali.
Mentionable more than fifty policemen took part in the arrest of the UP chairman Jasmine Kazi, the widow of late Obayid Kazi, former General Secretary of Upazila Awami League, who was elected chairman of that union several times. Obayid died of cancer in 2014. After the death of her husband, Jasmin Kazi was elected as the chairman for two terms.
