15 including Imam injured: Miscreants attack mosque

Following an enmity prevailing between the 2 persons of village Baraitala within Jewdhara Union under Morrelganj Upazila in Bagerhat district over the possession of a plot of litigated land for a long some miscreants, 20 to 30 in number, led by one Hemayet Uddin Dihidar attacked a Jame Mosque named ‘Helalia’ mosque in the same village on last Friday just when the Imam delivering the Friday sermon (Khutba) with lethal weapons and brick bates and one stage they (miscreants) entered into the mosque and began to beat Musallies and others with lethal weapons and brick bates. As a result, some 15 persons of both the groups including the Imam of the mosque were injured. The locals recovered the injured persons and admitted them to Morrelganj Upazila Health Complex for their treatment.
It is learnt from the locals that on the day while some 60/70 Musallies (devotees) were present in the mosque to say the Jumma prayer and while they were listening to the Friday sermon (Khutba). At that time the unwanted incident was taken place.
It is stated that an enmity had been prevailing between Freedom Fighter Md. Sultan Ali Hawladar, President of the Mosque Committee and donor of the land (of the mosque) and his neighbour Hemayet Uddin Dihidar over a plot of disputed land for a long. Following the issue Hemayet Uddin and his followers including women attacked the mosque on Friday, after entering into it and began to pelt brick-bates left and right on Md. Sultan Ali Hawladar and the Musallies resulting injured 15 persons of both the groups including the Imam of the mosque. Injured persons are Kari Abu Yusuf (38), Imam of the mosque, Freedom Fighter ighter Sultan Ali Hawladar (71), his son Enamul Haq Hawladae (48), Grandson Rabbi Hawladar (25), Musalli Obaidulla Hawladae (45), Halimma Begum (35), Asma Begum (38), Enayet Hawladar (45), Israfil Hawladar (21), Tarikul Islam Joy (14) and five others. Out of them 5 persons are seriously injured.
Md. Shamsuddin, Officer-in-charge of Morrelganj PS told, I know nothing about the incident. If anybody complains to the PS legal action will be taken.
