The main opposition party, BNP Standing Committee Member Mirza Abbas, said on Saturday that the Pakistani forces never did such things as the Awami League government did during the BNP’s grand rally on October 28 last year in Dhaka.

“The conspiracy hatched before the grand rally on October 28 so that the BNP could not come into power,” Mirza Abbas added.
The BNP leader came up with this remark while distributing a leaflet in the capital’s Nayapaltan area with the party leaders and activists demanding a decrease in the prices of electricity and gas.

Meanwhile, BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said the AL government has increased the price of electricity and gas, sacrificing the interests of the people.

“The AL government has given licences for quick rental power plants to their own people. By looting billions of taka in the name of capacity charges in quick rental power plants, they got placed among the world’s rich people.

And now they are hiking prices for further looting,” Rizvi said after distributing leaflets in the Bailey Road area of the capital. The BNP distributed leaflets across the country as part of its central programme, protesting against the abnormal hike in prices of electricity, gas, and daily commodities.

Rizvi also said that the January 7 election was not accepted anywhere in the world.

“The European Union has also, in its report, said that it was not a democratic election.

To save the country and the people, a democratic government must be established by elections under a neutral government,” the BNP leader said.
