Ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan and promising pacer Hasan Mahmud have been included in the Bangladesh Test squad for the second Test against Sri Lanka.
The second Test match will be held at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram from March 30 to April 3.
Towhid Hridoy, who got chance to play in the first Test, was dropped from the squad. Besides, Mushfiqur Rahim will not play the second Test due to injury.
Mr. Dependable also missed the first Test against Sri Lanka in the first Test at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium recently.
Shakib Al Hasan played for Bangladesh before four and half months.
He played in the ICC World Cup 2023. Shakib returned to the Test cricket after one year. He last played for Bangladesh against Ireland in April of last year.
Earlier, Hasan Mahmud was called by the Management Committee of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) but Hasan Mahmud has not yet make his debut in the Test cricket.
It may be mentioned that Shakib Al Hasan took part in the Dhaka Premier League (DPL) Cricket for Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Limited against Gazi Group Cricketers at the BKSP Ground on Wednesday.
Shakib Al Hasan hit a superb half-century against Gazi Group Cricketers. Shakib notched up an exact 50 playing 61 deliveries. Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Limited piled up 233 runs. After Yesterday’s match, Shakib Al Hasan will join the Bangladesh squad in Chattogram today.
The cricketers, who have been chosen for Bangladesh second Test squad, are : Najmul Hossain Shanto (Captain), Zakir Hasan, Mahmudul Hasan Joy, Sadman Islam, Litton Das, Mominul Haque, Shakib Al Hasan, Shahadat Hossain Dipu, Mehidy Hassan Miraz, Nayeem Hasan, Taijul Islam, Shoriful Islam, Khaled Ahmed,Nahid Rana and Hasan Mahmud.
