Sonagazi Model Thana police recovered 21 pieces of stolen pickup. In this incident, five members of the gang of car thieves have been arrested on Sunday afternoon.
Superintendent of Police Zakir Hasan of Feni gave this information in a press briefing in front of his office.
He said that based on secret information, the police raided the sky denting workshop in front of the Sonagazi Upazila Post Office on Saturday.
At that time, 21 pieces of a car were recovered from the workshop and the owner of the workshop, Azad Hossain Akash, was arrested. When asked, Akash said that on Friday, four members of the thief gang stole a pickup from Chittagong and brought it to his workshop and cut it into 21 pieces. They kept the pieces in his custody for sale at Kegdar.
Then Nishan, Aziz, Hasan and Faisal, members of the thieves’ gang, were summoned through the air with the lure of selling the pieces. Their homes are in Feni, Chittagong, Noakhali and Comilla districts.
They all live in a rented house in Chittagong. Later they were arrested.
On questioning they said that last Friday they stole a pickup parked by businessman Nizam Uddin from Halisahar in Chittagong and brought Sonagazi of Feni. They try to sell parts other than the engine of the pickup to junkyards.
