Staff Reporter :
The main opposition party, the BNP, has accused armed organisations from other countries of attacking the country.

BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said, “Armed organisations and terrorists from other countries are carrying out attacks in Bangladesh. Those armed terrorists have entered the country, and they are carrying out attacks and looting banks. They are looting the police stations, looting arms, and killing people in the country.

Rizvi said this while addressing an event organised to distribute Eid gifts among the low-income people in Uttara, the capital, on Sunday.

“We cannot say whether there is independence in the country. We don’t know whether there is sovereignty,” Rizvi added. The BNP leader also alleged that there is no democracy in the country. He furjter said, “The government is unable to ensure security. The country cannot be run in such a way.”
Rizvi also alleged that the Awami League-led government has turned the country into a weak state.

“A country is frequently carrying out attacks on our border. Almost every day, they are shooting our people to death. But the government cannot even protest against this. This government even could not realise the fair share of water from the neighbouring country,” the BNP leader articulated.

BNP leaders Aminul Haque, Kafil Uddin Ahmed, Abdur Razzak, and Ataur Rahman, among others, spoke at the event.
Apart from these, the BNP Senior Joint Secretary General demanded the unconditional release of the party’s detained leaders and activists before Eid-ul-Fitr.
“Showing respect to the law, the BNP men appeared before the court for bail when Sheikh Hasina’s’subservient court’ sent them to jail. We demand the release of all of our detained party men before Eid,” Rizvi said.

“People are suffering due to oppression by the BAKSAL-2 government. The ruling Awami League is enjoying all facilities solely to hold meetings and rallies in the country, whereas other political parties have no right to do that,” he said.
“By burying the principles of democracy, AL has made the country a totalitarian state. In this situation, the feeling of joy for Eid has disappeared from people’s minds, “the BNP leader said.

Especially this time of Eid seems pale for the middle- and lower-income groups, he said.

Rizvi said the AL government has filed 1.5 lakh false cases in the last 16 years against 50 lakh BNP leaders and activists, including its chairperson, Khaleda Zia, and acting chairman, Tarique Rahman.
