Clash between 2 fishermen groups leaves 5 injured

Some five persons were injured seriously when an armed clash was taken place between the 2 rival groups of fishermen in the Bay of Bengal on Wednesday (on Mar, 27) morning over the catching fish, according to a delayed report received here. Being informed of the matter forest guards rushed to the spot and brought the clash under control after opening blank-gun fire at ‘Fusfuerchar’ within Katka area under Sharankhola Forest Range in the Eastern Division of Sundarbans (in Bagerhat district).
The injured fishermen were admitted to Sharankhola Upazila Health Complex for their treatment. Rafikul Islam hails from Uttar Rajapur under Sharankhola Upazila (in Bagerhat district) and Mahajan (muster) of the injured fishermen who are under treatment in the Health Complex told the newsmen, on the day (March 27) in the morning at 6 am my fishermen cast fishing nets in the Bay near ‘Fusfuserchar’ for catching fish some. Just at that time some 20/25 fishermen boarded in 3 fishing boats led by Rafikul Islam, son of one Halim Khan hails from Patharghata Upazila in Patukhli district rushed to the spot, made an armed attack upon my fishermen, began to beat them mercilessly and asked them not to catch fish from there. As a result, 5 of my fishermen were injured seriously.
