Mustafizur Rahman of Bangladesh again shone with the cherry for Chennai Super Kings in their second match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) as they thrashed Gujrat Titans by 63 runs at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai of India on Tuesday last.

The left-arm pacer bagged a pair of wickets for 30 runs.

Earlier, Mustafizur Rahman captured four wickets at the cost of 29 runs in the first match of Chennai Super Kings against Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the same venue on March 22.

Mustafizur Rahman was adjudged the Man of the Match for his outstanding bowling performance.

Sent into bat first, Chennai Super Kings piled up a mammoth total of 206 for the loss of six wickets in the stipulated 20 overs and then restricted Gujrat Titans to 143 for the loss of eight wickets in 20 overs.

The ‘Cutter Boy’ mopped up the last two wickets of Gujrat Titans.

He dismissed Rahul Tewati for six runs and then picked up the wicket of Rashid Khan for just one run.

Cricfrenzy adds: Chennai Super Kings (CSK) Batting Coach Mike Hussey said Mustafizur Rahman’s bowling is proving to be highly effective in the death overs during the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL).

“Our entire focus is now on death bowling. It was important to get Pathirana back. I think the same goes for Mustafiz as well. He has delivered in the first two matches. As a left-arm pacer, he is a fantastic option for us.

His slower balls are quite good.

When he bowls in the death overs, he keeps a cool head even under pressure.

I think at this moment, it is working for us.

We have a good option for death bowling now. It is very important for us,” said Hussey.

Former New Zealand and Mumbai Indians bowler Mitchell McClenaghan believes if Mustafizur Rahman can continue his bowling prowess he will one of the best bowler of the tournament.

“Theekshana’s return to the eleven is difficult with the type of wicket I see.

Mustafiz seemed to be in a good rhythm from the few slower ones he bowled towards the end of the innings.

He was getting good support from the wicket too, if he continues like this he will be one of the best bowlers of the tournament,” said McClenaghan.
