Entertainment Report :

The Bangladesh Film Censor Board has given the final verdict that Raihan Rafi’s awaited movie ‘Omingmashito’ is not suitable for showing in front of the audience.

Md Moinuddin, Deputy Director of the Board, announced this decision last Wednesday.

In the written letter, four reasons were mentioned behind the non-grant of clearance.
Director Raihan Rafi has expressed his anger about the issue. In a Facebook post, he strongly protested against the blocking of the web film ‘Omingmashito’ by the Censor Board.

Raihan Rafi wrote, “The movie has been matched with reality so it cannot be released. The movie must be unreal! Strongly appeals to block the web film ‘Omingmashito’ from the Censor Board.”

Rafi wrote about finding parallels with the incident despite mentioning the fictional story, “The thing is a journalist couple can’t be killed in a movie? Even after referring to fictional stories, if we find similarities with any events, then the matter is like, Who is in Tagore’s house? I don’t eat bananas type.”

Director Rafi also wrote, “So, if a girl goes missing and is killed in a movie, will it match with Cumilla’s Tanu? In the movie, when a teenager’s body is found in a river, Narayanganj will meet with the murder of Toki? Nothing is proved in the movie ‘Omingmashito’.
It’s sad that the movie was shelved even after various people’s ideas were shown.”

Lastly, Raihan Rafi concluded his post by this way, “No murder can be shown in the movie, no rape can be shown, no kidnapping can be shown, and no disappearance can be shown. We are all angels, living in heaven. There is no murder, no disappearance, and no rape. This is how our country’s cinema has to swim hand and foot.”

Notably, four notable factors are:
1) The movie contains brutal
murder scenes; 2) The content of fiction, screenplay, and dialogue is similar to reality; 3) Such stories have actually happened and related
cases are pending in the High Court; 4) The plot/content of the movie is similar to the pending case and may give wrong message
and hamper the investigation.
